KnokItOff.com was born from real-world frustration—and a moment of unexpected insight. After losing a job he'd held for several years, our founder took a temporary canvassing position with a local roofing company while searching for something more stable. The job seemed simple: knock on doors, introduce services, and generate leads. But what followed was an experience that would spark an entirely new mission.

Door after door, the response was the same: frustration, hostility, and even threats. It didn’t matter that the company was legitimate or that the approach was respectful—homeowners were tired of the constant interruptions at their doorstep. They felt their space and privacy were being invaded, and there was no clear way to opt out.

That’s when the idea for KnokItOff took root. Our founder recognized that while homeowners could add their number to a Do Not Call list, there was no effective equivalent for door-to-door visits. There was a clear need for a centralized way to say "No thanks" to unsolicited knocks.

What began as a temporary job evolved into a vision for something better. Our founder dove into research, spoke with homeowners, canvassers, experts, and tech developers. The goal: build a tool that empowers homeowners and gives canvassers a way to respect their boundaries.

KnokItOff.com was launched to do just that.

Homeowners can register their address and join our verified Do Not Knock List. We distribute this list publicly, by mail and digitally, to thousands of canvassing contractors. We also work with the apps and tools canvassers use daily to ensure your home is marked as a no-knock zone before they ever step foot on your street.

We go further by providing each customer with a Homeowner Protection Kit, which includes:

• A clear guide to your legal rights

• Tips on how to handle non-compliant canvassers

• Official stickers, signs, and flyers to reinforce your protected status

We believe that your door is your line of defense—and you should have the tools to protect it.

We're Building This With You

We’re transparent: this system is still growing. It can take up to 90 days for your protected status to be fully recognized and honored across all our partner networks. And while most canvassers comply, some bad actors may ignore the warnings. Like any new platform, we know there may be bugs, glitches, or areas for improvement.
